Dry pastels on paper

'We Ascend', 11.5in X 16in, dry pastels on paper

Memories of travels wrap me with a feel-good sense like lingering impressions of a sweet dream. Was I really there!

It is often observed that beginning artists are obsessed with their own limbs. I say, of course! Is there a better way to learn, almost anything, other than working on oneself?

Pencil on Paper

A muse, a purpose, and existence was shaped
Through wilderness, paths were paved
With vision and diligence, structures were made
Along these lines civilizations were laid

Along these lines, the artist shall wade

First steps - rendered in dry pastels, pencil, and charcoal

First steps - rendered in dry pastels, pencil, and charcoal

That’s almost all the progress I’ve made so far. Yet I can safely say in my favor that it has been the most important step. It is clichéd but I resort to the comfort of this excuse nonetheless, because I’ve to move on.

On with my stairway –tread that I set, rise that I define and measure. In other words, I live by my own standards.

Backgroud for a new canvas - 28" X 36" Acrylic on Canvas

After several attempts and numerous layers of colors I am finally satisfied with the backgroud. I’ve been striving for this merging and balance of colors. There is a lot more to be done before I call this canvas complete.

My notice period at Tehelka is finally over. It has seemed liked the longest month of my entire working life. Mostly due to the anticipation of what lies ahead – the unknown and its possibilities. This reminds me of a dialogue from the movie “The Motorcycle Diaries” – “What is it that’s lost when you cross a border. Each moment seems to be split in two. Melancholy for what was left behind and on the other hand all the enthusiasm at entering new lands.”

There is an interesting coincidence at this juncture. The last magazine issue that I’ve uploaded on web for Tehelka is a special issue on hundred years of ICC. The magazine has a lot of read-worthy content courtesy the tie-up with ICC. The magazine would be officially released at the Lords – the ultimate pilgrimage of Cricket.

This is a coincidence not just because I indulge in Cricket and I am one of those lucky few who blabber about Cricket on radio and the Cricket-crazy nation listens! There is more to it. This link is like a clue for the next level in this treasure hunt called life. Well, that’s about all that I can tell right now. You’ll have to watch it as it unfolds – level by level, step by step :)

For now, all I can say is that … watch this space for more action… soon!
